Counter Culture Coffee Cuppers Challenge!

Tomorrow night I’ll be competing in the Counter Culture Coffee Cuppers Challenge – or, as I’m referring to it, “C5″ – at the Chicago CCC Training Center on Lake and Ada at 7pm.

From their website:

In the next few weeks, Counter Culture will roll out our 2013 Cup Tasters Challenge with events at Training Centers in Asheville, Boston, Chicago, Durham, Philadelphia, and New York. Participants taste multiple sets of three cups each and identify which is different from the other two in each set. Anyone can enter. Anyone could win.
2/20 = NYC + Asheville, NC
2/21 = Durham
2/25 = Philly
2/27 = Boston
2/28 = Chicago
The events will be followed in March by the first official round in a 2013 battle among regions for a title win – the events will all be held at the same time at all TCs with a common scoreboard on the web. The overall individual winner from the March events gets a chance to go the Specialty Coffee Association of America conference in Boston in April to compete at the U.S. Cup Tasters Championship.
In the months that follow, we’ll periodically host more events in each region with a cumulative regional winner crowned at the final event of the year. Senior Designer Katy Meehan is working on a professional-wrestling–style belt based upon the logo above. The Training Center in the winning region keeps the belt at the end. #cuptasterschallenge
So far, the winners include the likes of Keith McCloskey (Durham), an employee of Piebird in Raleigh, North Carolina. I’ll be posting the rest of the winners as the information becomes available.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Only the first 20 people to register will be allowed to compete, so get there early!
